Tbilisi, my love: unique, ancient and forever young city.

Tbilisi is located among the mountains, stretched along the banks of the Kura (Mtkvari) river and immersed in greenery. Its unique appearance has been developed over the centuries as an electric mixture of different architectural styles and directions - from traditional Georgian houses to classicism, pseudo-renessaince and pseudo-gothic. When walking along the streets of the old districts (Sololaki, Chulureti, Mtatsminda) a passerby's attention is attracted to almost every house, unique in its character and blend of details.

But what gives Tbilisi a special charm is the modern style (art-nouveau) blossomed here at the beginning of the 20th century. The modern style is widely represented both in the architecture of the left-bank and the right-bank parts of the city, each part having its own characteristics.

The right-bank modern differs by a larger scale of buildings, rich decoration, use of the most expensive finishing materials, while the left-bank modern is marked by the architecture intimacy, with a larger variety of intra-style directions, greater creativity and freedom. It can be said that here modern has developed its own face, with local artisans having enrichiched the buildings with traditional Georgian elements. Thus, the rear facades are widely decorated with wooden carved balconies, which makes the city architecture one of the best example of coexistence of the European style and national traditions.
